Cooking For K-9s BBQ To Benefit Plainfield K-9 Memorial

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield American Legion Marne Post 13, 24741 W. Renwick Road, will host a “Cooking for K-9s BBQ” fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. The event will benefit the Plainfield Police/Plainfield Riverfront Foundation’s K-9 Memorial Project.

The event will have food, a vintage car display, petting zoo, DJ and raffles. Proceeds will benefit plans to create a Plainfield Police K9 Memorial.

The memorial will honor Plainfield police service dogs, past and present. The memorial would stand on the property at the Plainfield Riverfront, 24321 Lockport St., where three of the department’s service dogs – K9s Luger, Blackie and TJ – are currently buried under a large rock. A GoFundMe campaign has also been launched in support of the project.
