Massachusetts police dog receives body camera

YARMOUTH, Mass. (WTNH) – A Massachusetts police dog is the latest officer to get a body camera.

Yarmouth officers began training K-9 Officer Sat-Too with the device this week.

The camera can send back images and sound from SWAT or hostage situations, giving officers an early heads up about danger ahead.

“We send the dog in and he doesn’t engage someone and I call him out. We’ve now seen the interior of the room. We may change our tactics,” explained Officer Mike Kramer with the Yarmouth Police Department.

Yarmouth police bought the camera with money donated after another K-9 officer was shot and killed on duty back in April.

K-9 Officer Sat-Too is the first police dog to get a body camera anywhere in New England.
