Two Pierce County Sheriff’s K9 deputies returned from Slovakia with some new tactics.
The deputies spent a week in the City of Žilina where they trained with police K9 units.
According to information from the sheriff’s department, K9 units are used much differently in Slovakia. Police dogs are typically used for crowd control, especially when dealing with “hooligans” at soccer matches and other sporting events. In Zilina, dogs wear steel quick release muzzles and are trained to charge at people, hitting them in the face.
